The meeting
Today was thing1's meeting for his IEP.It was great to hear some of the concerns his teacher and I have both voiced were something that the teacher and he were seeing. Impulsivity seemed like the biggest thing that was getting him in trouble and the lack of that inner button to follow the rules.
It's do awesome to talk so positively about the strengths and weaknesses of you child with adults that genuinely love your kid! In a totally new and different way than you do as a parent.
They didn't once tell me to medicate him. Not once did they mention that he was just a lost cause and he'd never make it to grade level. He is progressing rapidly in reading with the extra help he has and he has dramatically improved from his adventures in the first few months of school.
He is still having meltdowns consistently about things the kids and teacher are helping him through all the time. And with the assistance he is getting he has some goals that I love set in place for him.
They are so super sweet to him and have been guided by the example of his teacher in how to help him with kindness and gentleness. It is such an unusual situation for kids that are naturally mean spirited at this age.
I am mostly so proud of thing 1 he has made amazing strides in his academics and is really getting on track. But most of all the heart that this kid has is pure gold. He is so caring and kind to everyone. His class mates really look after him. He has been one trooper to move schools and he has been so blessed to be where he is now.
We have a plan for him in place to help him continue to make huge strides in his social development and academic. But most of all he is this adorable and little man. Who I am very proud of.

Kudos to all of you! Loved reading this. It made me smile today :) By the way, when I dressed Lukas today (finally, around 3pm) I thought of you. Thank you for clothing my child. Love you!
